A lot of children/adults who have SMS have low muscle tone (hypotonia), with the help of occupational Therapy/Physio Therapy they are able to build the muscle strength required!

People with SMS can get overly excited easily and tend to not handle large crowds well. Usually an outing with large crowds results in an on-going tantrum, head-banging, hair pulling, screaming and biting (otherwise known as a meltdown). It can sometimes take hours to get over it.

While no one has studied the life expectancy of individuals with SMS in detail, they appear to have a normal life expectancy. The oldest known person with SMS lived into her late 80’s.
